What a beautiful place by the lake for a coffee.Just what Maythorne needs to get it on the map.
This place is cake heaven. They have an amazing selection to choose from, they use fresh local produce (yesterday I tried a delicious rhubarb and custard cake made with the first of this season's rhubarb) and the staff are lovely. The place itself is really nice too, with quirky decor and a beautiful view over the lake. My dad's not that bothered about sweet food but even he really likes it here!
Very nice food in a fairly nice location but very (very) expensive. Not sure why everything costs so much when they're competing with much more easily accessible (and cheaper) shops in Southwell and the surrounding area who also do nice coffee and cakes. Nothing incredibly special to return for, unless you happen to be nearby and money is no object.
I suffer from several allergies. The piece of mind i get from visiting this place is amazing. I get to eat with my family like an equal. The food is to die for. The quality, taste and texture after no eggs, milk and flour is absolutely amazing. They taste better than a normal cake outstanding. The staff are so clued up and are just amazing.
A real hidden treasure of a cafe. Beautiful location and the cakes are just unbelievable, the best we've tasted and well worth the treat. Big bonus for us is that its dog friendly, making it a lovely stop off after a winter walk, plus the heated patio area is a nice touch if you prefer to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. We called in with muddy boots plus a Labrador and were made to feel very welcome. Fabulous service. Highly recommended.
